AhlulBayt News Agency: A ceremony was held in Kayseri Province in central Turkey marking the graduation of hundreds of Quran memorizers.

The country’s Dar al-Ifta organized the event, which was attended by religious officials and a large number of people.

Addressing the ceremony, Ali Erbas, the president of Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), described the Holy Quran as the greatest blessing of God for humanity.

He said the Holy Book must be the guidance for everyone in life and its life-giving teachings should be comprehended and implemented.

“All of us should make efforts to get acquainted with the meaning of the Quran and implement its teachings in the best way possible,” he added.

Erbas also hailed the growing enthusiasm and interest in Quran recitation and memorization in the country.

A total of 800 Quran memorizers, 514 men and 286 women, received Quran memorization certificates at the ceremony.

Earlier this year, an official with Diyanet had said that nearly 12,000 people in Turkey had learned the Quran by heart in 2021 and received Quran memorization certificates.

Elsewhere during his trip to Kayseri Province, Erbas also addressed the students of Kayseri University, saying the world today needs Islam and its teachings.

He added that the Holy Quran, which is the last sacred book sent by God, invites people to justice, protecting freedom and guaranteeing peace and this is what the world needs today.
