The police chief of Sistan and Baluchistan province said that 13 arm smuggling gangs and war ammunition were destroyed in the cities of Zahedan, Zabul and Khash with intelligence operations in the last two weeks.
Following a terrorist attack on a police station on Friday, 30 September 2022, in Zahedan city, the capital of Sistan and Baluchistan province, southeast of Iran, the Iranian security and law enforcement responded quickly, and the plots of the terrorists to attack people while performing the Friday prayer remained neutralized.
Brigadier General Ahmad Taheri stated on Wednesday in a press conference investigating the recent incidents in Zahedan and other cities of Sistan and Baluchistan province that 27 people were arrested and 117 weapons such as Kalashnikovs and pistols were seized.
The police commander of Sistan and Baluchistan province stated that these people intended to send and distribute war weapons to the central provinces of Iran.
Gen. Taheri also described the situation of Sistan and Baluchistan province as the calm after the recent incidents and riots and praised the actions of tribal leaders and Shia and Sunni scholars in establishing peace in Sistan and Baluchistan province.
