African Shia cleric: Palestine not liberated due to lack of a united ummah

Chairperson of the Ahlul Bayt (AS) Islamic Council of South Africa called Palestine the most important issue challenging the world of Islam and those who love peace and justice.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Chairperson of the Ahlul Bayt (AS) Islamic Council of South Africa called Palestine the most important issue challenging the world of Islam and those who love peace and justice.

Sheikh Shuaib Booley, in an interview conducted on the sideline of the 36th International Islamic Unity Conference stressed necessity of solidarity among Muslims and said,” Palestine is not liberated yet because the Islamic nation is not united.”

He referred to his speech at the general assembly of the conference saying,” Unity of ummah is sort of nonexistent” demanding,” If Muslim world has more than two billion people why do they have these problems among ourselves? Why is Palestine not liberated yet?”

Top cleric noted,” The resistance is not going to wait for the people to unite rather it will do what it should to withdraw the Zionists to go back home where they come from.”

Sheikh Shuaib Booley hailed the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought as a center established by Imam Khomeini (RA) whose path has been continued by the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei.

He reiterated Iran’s Islamic unity center as an “extremely important” organization to boost solidarity among Muslims and expressed regret that Muslims have unfortunately become enemies because of ignorance.

South African intellectual warned against ignorance as the biggest enemy in the Islamic Ummah and that ignorance among Ummah has led Muslims to kill each other and themselves.

“If you look at what’s happening in Syria, Yemen or in any Muslim country, you see they fight against themselves and kill each other” said the scholar and added,” We have more than 50 Muslim nations who have problem with each other; therefore, a unified Ummah is nonexistent because we are fragmented.”

When asked on the conditions of Islam and Muslims in South Africa he expressed regret that Africa has been a victim of colonialism and stated,” If you look at many countries known as Franco-African countries, you see they were colonialized by France while the country rejects admitting any responsibility claiming that it has brough independence to African people.”

He added,” France is among states that claimed it had brought civilization to those African counties whereas we know that the Barbarians who brought colonialism, came to a continent that was already civilized, very rich and had everything for colonialists to steal and benefit from.”

Sheikh Shuaib Booley lauded South Africa for successful liberation from colonialism and apartheid and expressed regret that some authorities in the government have very close relationships with imperialists, particularly America and the UK.

Sheikh Shuaib Booley is chairperson of Ahlul Bayt (AS) Islamic Council of South Africa. Much enthusiastic to teach the wisdom of Ahlul Bayt (AS), household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), he widely studied on the topic and took his students to Zimbabwe to attend the classes held by Sheikh Ahmad Iravani abck in the 1980’s.
