Iranian students in Europe urge West to remove anti-Iran sanctions

The Union of Islamic Students Associations in Europe issued a statement on Sunday calling on Western countries to stop shedding crocodile tears for the Iranian nation and lift the illegal sanctions on the country instead.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Union of Islamic Students Associations in Europe issued a statement on Sunday calling on Western countries to stop shedding crocodile tears for the Iranian nation and lift the illegal sanctions on the country instead.

The statement was issued by the London-based union in reaction to the widespread support of the Western countries for the recent unrests across Iran.

It referred to a yes vote for the Islamic Republic at a nationwide referendum in 1979, urging the international community to respect the choice of the Iranian nation.

The statement also said that the United States has to stop fake claims of support for the Iranians and remove the sanctions on the country instead.

Iran reached a landmark nuclear deal with six world powers – the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany – under which all the sanctions on Iran were removed.

But the US government under President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the accord in 2018 and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran.

The US government also threatened other world countries that they would be punished if they fail to follow the US unilateral penalties on Iran.
