Malaysian scholar: Internationalization of mosques should be top on our agenda

President of Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) called on the world of Islam to unite based on religious centers naming mosques and set internationalization of the mosques on top of their agenda.

Muhammad Azmi Abdul Hamid, senior Malaysian scholar in his remarks at the opening ceremony of the 36th International Islamic Unity Conference quoted Qur’anic verse regarding importance of unity said we are living in a world where they do not have a single currency using food and clothes produced by non-Muslims, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization and other importance organizations are all controlled by Zionists who make the decision for Muslims.”
 
He added,” We should look towards Mecca while we are looking towards Moscow and Beijing to decide for us; therefore, we have lost our reference.”
 
He called on Muslims to organize themselves and be united and demanded the Muslim rulers to practically pursue Islamic solidarity.
 
Malaysian scholar expressed regret that Muslims are not united despite having the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and other similar institutions since the rulers have political reasons for disunity and our scholars disagree on religious issues.
 
Muhammad Azmi Abdul Hamid referred to more than 4.5 million mosques across the globe and the Islamic nation should unite based on such hubs and set internationalization of mosques on top of their agenda.
 
He warned of the crises challenging the world of Islam urging the Islamic countries to mobilize the youths in the face of these challenges.
 
President of Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations addressed the participants to the 36th International Islamic Unity Conference with the theme “Islamic Unity, Peace and Avoidance of Division and Conflict in the Islamic World”, 36th Islamic Unity Conference is convening Shia and Sunni scholars, intellectuals and thinkers from across the globe in more than 12 webinars and three days of in presence meetings held in the capital Tehran.
