After winning Nobel Prize

Israeli media attack French writer for supporting Palestine

Israeli media on Saturday attacked the French writer Annie Ernaux after the prestigious Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to her last Thursday.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli media on Saturday attacked the French writer Annie Ernaux after the prestigious Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to her last Thursday.

The Israeli media attacks against Ernaux came in response to her activities in support of Palestine including signing letters that condemn the Israeli crimes against Palestinians.

In 2019, Ernaux signed a call, published in the online magazine Mediapart, to boycott the Eurovision 2019 competition that was held in Tel Aviv.

Earlier in 2018, the French writer opposed cultural cooperation between France and Israel and signed a letter along with about 80 other artists in which they expressed their anger at the establishment of the "French-Israeli cultural season.”

The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post described Ernaux as one of the "strongest supporters of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement."
