Director of Qur’an affairs at Organization of Endowments and Charity hailed the participation of Shia and Sunni reciters in Qur’an competitions calling that an instance of solidarity between denominations in Iran.
Hamid Majidi Mehr praised the 45th round of provincial Qur’an competitions particularly in border provinces of Kurdistan, Sistan and Baluchistan, Western Azerbaijan, Southern Khorasan, Golestan, Bushehr and Hormozgan and stressed that as manifestation of unity among Muslims.
He referred to enthusiastic participation of Sunni competitors in interpretation based on Sunni references and said,” This stands for solidarity and proximity among Islamic denominations based on holy Qur’an.”
He also noted that a number of Sunni referees were invited to judge the competitions.
Majidi Mehr said 1’853 Sunni competitors from 27 provinces attended the 45th round of Qur’an competitions.
