Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi arrived in New York at noon this
Monday local time in order to participate in the 77th session of the
United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking to reporters, Ayatollah Raisi described the visit as an opportunity to explain the views and opinions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and emphasised, "The United Nations should be the organisation of the united nations, not the organisation of powerful countries".
The President described attending the United Nations as a suitable platform for discussing the problems of today's world and finding collective solutions to solve them.
Ayatollah Raisi described sanctions as a tactic of major world powers to put pressure on other nations, and said, "Sanctions are detrimental to nations and are in conflict with peace and security".
The President described sanctions, terrorism and war as manifestations of unilateralism and said, "Unilateralism causes suffering of human societies".
