AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The first preliminary session for the fifth round of Imam Reza Global Congress focusing on ‘Justice for All and Oppression for Nobody’ has gotten under way in Sheikh Tabarsi Hall of the Islamic Research Foundation of Imam Reza shrine in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad.
In the session held by the international deputy of Cultural and Scientific Organization, a group of Islamic thinkers and religious leaders from France, Pakistan, Senegal, Australia, Lebanon, Syria, Mexico, etc. delivered speeches on the ‘necessity of a focal attention on Imam Reza’s civilizing mindset and the revival of his valuable legacy in promoting justice’.
In his speech on ‘Clarifying Congress Goals’, Hoj. Saeed Reza Ameli, the congress secretary, traced the history of the event to 40 years ago, noting: “The first round of the congress featured by scholarly articles was held in 1984 with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in attendance. The next rounds respectively took place in 1986, 1989, and 1992 coinciding with Imam Reza’s birth anniversary”.
He called essence and truth of religion, an ontological look towards religion, justice in a monotheistic realm, observance and respect for human dignity in Imam Reza’s school of thought, justice and fight against oppression in his life and conduct, etc. as the central themes of the congress, and pointed to similar sessions in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Lebanon, expressing hope to promote Imam Reza’s teachings globally via the event.
Drawing attention to the rise of injustice and oppression across the world, Dr. Ameli called justice the most fundamental axis of divine commandments.
He called for the establishment of justice in cultural, political, and economic aspects of today’s society, asserting that true Islamic teachings and Imam Reza’s culture could ameliorate living conditions. “We’ve gathered here to exchange views within the framework of Imam Reza’s civilizing mindset in an attempt to establish justice in the world”.
Elsewhere in the event, a Shia leader from Senegal, Sheikh Abdul Mon’em al-Zain delivered a speech on the justice that would be established under the rule of Imam Mahdi (AS), the Twelfth Shia Imam.
The session concluded by speeches from Veronica Elizabeth Marquez, a Mexican political activist, Dr. Sheikh Sharif Hadi, a lecturer from Thailand university, and Dr. Masoud Shadjareh, the chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission from London. They respectively talked about the role of patience in human dignity, interfaith dialogue in Thailand, and the predominance of injustice in the U.S. society.
