AhlulBayt News Agency: The holy city of Karbala has a number of condolence processions that have been established for hundreds of years, most of them returned to practice condolences and service rituals after the fall of the Baathist regime in 2003, but there are some of these processions which image is still stuck in the minds of the old people of Karbala, which did not return to practice their rituals. One of these condolences was the funeral procession of Al-Saqqa'een, which witnessed its return after an absence of more than (50) years for the fourth year in a row.

The procession has taken from the commemoration day of the martyrdom of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) on the eve of the seventh of Muharram the day for its launch, and its name is linked to Aba al-Fadl's title: al-Saqqa’ (peace be upon him).

This condolence procession differs from the rest of the other processions, as it has a special ritual, the members of the procession gather in parallel lines carrying waterskin on their chests, while on their march, they provide the visitors and mourners with water throughout their journey, which starts from one of the streets leading to the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), until they reach the shrine of his brother Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), where their rituals are concluded.
