Iran envoy to China urges SCO to slam assassination of IRGC member

Iranian Ambassador to China Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh has written a letter to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to call on the member states to condemn the cowardly assassination of an Iranian commander.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iranian Ambassador to China Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh has written a letter to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to call on the member states to condemn the cowardly assassination of an Iranian commander.

Keshavarzzadeh addressed Secretary-General of the SCO Zhang Ming, writing that one of the objectives of the organization is the fight against terrorism as well as consolidation of peace and stability in Eurasia, so given the fact that Iran plays a key role to this end, Tehran urges the organization to condemns the cowardly assassination of Martyr Hassan Sayyad Khodaei.

Khodaei was assassinated in an armed attack by two motorcyclists in Tehran on Sunday. The terrorist attack took place around 4 p.m. local time, when the IRGC member was getting out of his car to enter his home in an eastern neighborhood of the Iranian capital.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi vowed that the Islamic Republic will definitely take revenge for the assassination of the Iranian anti-terror commander.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian emphasized that the country will make use of all its capacities to follow up the case of assassination of Sayyad Khodaei, a colonel of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Iran’s Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi underlined that a committee of military and security officials is to investigate the case of assassination of Colonel Sayyad Khodaei.

Addressing the heads of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in separate messages delivered on Thursday, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf called for global condemnation of the assassination of the Iranian colonel.

New York Times reported on Wednesday that an intelligence official said that the information of interactions between Israeli and American authorities show that Israel was behind the assassination.
