AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Republic of Dagestan received the largest hajj quota among Russian regions.
Bulat Kurbanov, general director of the Dagestan hajj operator Marwa-tour, told Islam in Russia website. More than 4.5 thousand residents of Dagestan will have chance to make a pilgrimage to the shrines of Islam in Mecca and Medina.
This year more than 11 thousand pilgrims from Russia will be able to perform Hajj.
“Dagestan received a quota for 4,550 people; this is the largest quota in Russia. We have been pre-registering for the Hajj for the last week and a half, during which we have received a large number of applications, almost the entire quota for our region has already been filled,” Kurbanov said.
A large number of applications have carried over this year from previous years, when pilgrims could not go on the Hajj due to the pandemic. “A lot of people who bought the tour before the pandemic retained their applications, we provide them with this opportunity this year,” added Kurbanov.
For other regions of Russia the Hajj quota looks like the following: 1,320 people for Chechen Republic, 270 for Crimea, 580 for the Coordinating Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus, 300 for the Republic of Bashkortostan, and 810 for Tatarstan.
