AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Mourning rituals were held at the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf, Iraq, on the eve of the first Imam’s (AS) martyrdom anniversary.
A large number of pilgrims attended the mourning ceremonies and also recitation of Al-Iftitah Supplication, according to the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine.
A flag on which “Fuzt Wa Rabb al-Kaaba” is written has been raised on the dome of the holy mausoleum and its walls are covered in black.
Fuzt wa Rabb al-Kaaba, a phrase said by Imam Ali (AS) when he was struck in the head, means: “I swear to the Lord of the Kaaba that I have prospered.”
Shia Muslims and others in different parts of the world hold mourning ceremonies every year on the 21st day of the holy month of Ramadan, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (AS).
