A blast tore through a mosque in the northern Afghan city of Kunduz, causing at least 20 casualties, the commander of Kunduz province said on Friday.

At least 20 people were killed or wounded in the blast on a Sunni mosque in the city, Qari Badri, the commander of Taliban forces in Kunduz province, confirmed the early count of casualties.

It was unclear who was behind the explosion, which came after several blasts claimed by ISIS rocked Afghanistan, including one in Kunduz and another on a Shi'ite mosque in Mazar-e-Sharif the previous day.

Meanwhile, an affiliate of the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for three bomb attacks across Afghanistan Thursday that targeted Shiite Muslims in the Shia Hazara community.

In the most significant attack, a bomb exploded inside a mosque in Mazar-e-Sharif, killing at least 12 people and injuring dozens. This is a survivor.
