AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On this day, the fifteenth of the holy month of Ramadan, the believers, lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) celebrate the birth anniversary of the beloved grandson of the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) Imam al-Hassan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him), which was on the third year of Hijra, and other historians say it was on the second year.

The Imam is al-Hassan son of Ali son of Abi Taleb son of Abd al-Muttalib, the first grandson of the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), he was called Abu Mohammad, and his titles were: As-Sayyed, Al-Sibt, Al-Ameen, Al-Hujjah, Al-Barr, Al-Naqiy, AL-Zaki, Al-Mujtaba and Al-Zahed.

Imam Ali ibn al-Hussayn (peace be upon both of them) said: When Fatima (peace be upon her) gave birth to al-Hassan (peace be upon him), she said to Imam Ali (peace be upon him): “Name him”, so he said: “I will not name him before the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household)”. So when he (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) came, he said to Imam Ali (peace be upon him): “did you name him?” He replied: “I would not name him before you”, so He said: “And I do not name him before my Lord, Mighty and Majestic”, So Allah revealed to Gabriel: “Mohammad has a son so descend and send him salams and congratulate him, and say to him: “Verily Ali is from you of the status which Haroun had from Musa, so name him after the son of Haroun.””, so Gabriel descended and congratulated the Prophet on behalf of Allah, then said: “Verily Allah orders you to name him after the son of Haroun. So the Prophet replied: “And what was his name?” He said: “Shabbar”. The Prophet said: “My tongue is Arab”. Gabriel said: “Name him al-Hassan”, so he named him al-Hassan."

Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) has been describe as: "He had a white, reddish face. He had black eyes, smooth cheeks, thick beard, and curly, plentiful hair. His neck was as white as a jug of silver. His body was good. He had large shoulders, and big fleshy bones. He was of medium height; neither long nor short. He was handsome; the best of all people in face".

It is also narrated that Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said: "Al-Hassan resembled the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) from his head to his chest, while al-Hussayn resembled him from his chest to his feet.

It was narrated from Salman that he said: "I heard the Apostle of God, Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household, say concerning al-Hassan and al-Hussayn, peace be on them: O God, I love both of them. Therefore love them and love whoever loves them. Then he said: Whoever loves al-Hassan and al-Hussayn, is one whom I love. Whomever I love, God loves, and whomever God loves, He will cause to enter Heaven. Whoever hates them, I hate and God hates. Whomever God hates, He will cause to enter the Fire. Then he said: These two sons of mine are my two plants of sweet basil (to sweeten) the world."

Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) was the best of the people of his time, the most ascetic and the master of worshippers. He used to perform pilgrimage on foot and maybe on barefoot. He used to cry when he remembers death, the Sirat and the Day of Resurrection. He was also known by his intelligence and wisdom since childhood. It is narrated that in his childhood, Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) listened to the revelation in his grandfather’s meeting and memorized it. Then he came to his mother Fatima (peace be upon her) to recite it before her. When Imam Ali (peace be upon him) came to her, he found that she had known about the revelation that had at once been revealed to the Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household). When he asked her about it, she replied that it was from her son al-Hassan (peace be upon him).

Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) was one of the most generous people, the kindest, and most charitable to the poor and the wretched. He did never reject a beggar at all. He was asked about that and he said, “I always beg Allah and look forward to His gift. Therefore, I feel shy to be a beggar and at the same time I reject a beggar. Allah has accustomed me to a habit that He pours on me His blessings and I have accustomed Him that I pour His blessings on people. I fear that if I stop my habit, He will stop His habit.’ Then he recited the following verses of poetry: “When an asker comes to me, I say: welcome to the One whose favour is urgently obligatory on me. And from His favour there is a favour on every favourer. And the best of one’s days is when he is asked (by a needy one)."
