AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Senior Iranian cleric and representative of Shiraz in the Assembly of Experts passed away in hospital on Tuesday.
Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Faqih Neyrizi, Friday prayer leader of Neyriz County and representative of the Supreme Leader in Shiraz passed away aged 79 in intensive care unit of hospital in Shiraz.
President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi has issued a message on Wednesday to offer condolences over passing of the senior scholar and spending four decades of his life for promoting Islam and leaving a legacy of contribution for the public.
Born in 1942, late Ayatollah Neyrizi was a political activist since his young age who was arrested in 1974 and sent to exile short before he met Ayatollah Khamenei.
Early after victory of the Islamic Revolution he was appointed by late Imam Khomeini (RA) as the Friday prayer leader and representative of the Supreme Leader in Neyriz County.
He achieved highest degrees in Fiq’h and Islamic philosophy and taught in seminary for years. The late cleric had served as representative of Fars Province in the second and fifth Assembly of Experts.
