Iranian people bid farewell to commanders martyred in Syria

In a ceremony in Tehran, Iranian people bid farewell to the commanders martyred due to the Israeli regime's attack on Syria.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In a ceremony in Tehran, Iranian people bid farewell to the commanders martyred due to the Israeli regime's attack on Syria.

Iranian troops are present in Syria at the official request of the Syrian government to assist the Syrian army in the fight against the US-backed terrorist group ISIS by providing military advisory to Syrian forces.

Colonel Ehsan Karbalipour and Colonel Morteza Saeednejad of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) were martyred because of Israel's recent missile attack on Syria.

The Commander of IRGC Major General Hossein Salami and Government Spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahromi attended the ceremony.

The unrest was instigated in Syria on 15 March 2011 to topple the Syrian government, where several groups, including the Free Syrian Army, al-Nusra Front, Tahrir al-Sham, the mixed Kurdish-Arab Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, well known as Daesh or ISIL (or ISIS), have plunged into war with Syria's legitimate government.

In her speech at the 2016 US election campaign, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton acknowledged that her country has created the Takfiri terrorist groups, including ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
