AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Emir of Qatar stressed in the meeting of high-ranking delegations of the two countries that the executive officials and chairmen of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission should set specific goals to expand interactions and cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking on Monday at the meeting of high-ranking delegations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Emirate of Qatar, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi stated that cultural and religious commonalities have always been the basis for strengthening relations between the two nations and governments, adding, "The level of Tehran-Doha relations should develop in all fields, especially economic and political".
Dr Raisi pointed out, "Determining specific goals and time to achieve these goals will be in the direction of expanding bilateral interactions and diligently pursuing these goals by the relevant officials in the two countries, especially the heads of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commissions of Iran and Qatar".
Stating that the strengthening of bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar should be extended to regional cooperation and international role-playing, the President added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a sincere neighbour and true friend to all countries in the region, including Qatar, and the most obvious example of this is Iran's constant support for the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people".
Recalling the Islamic Republic of Iran's solution to the Palestinian issue with the participation of Palestinians from various walks of life, Dr Raisi said, "If the Islamic Ummah is united, the rights of the Palestinians will be upheld and the oppression of the Zionists will end".
While condemning the efforts of some countries to normalise their relations with the Zionist Regime, the President stated, "The expansion of the Zionist regime's presence in the region is to the detriment of all countries, because this regime will overshadow the stability and security of other countries".
The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also referred to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the meetings of the Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in the last two years, saying, "Qatar is determined to develop its relations with Iran based on historical and deep-rooted interaction between the two nations, and we will no longer allow any issue, including the COVID-19 pandemic, to hinder the advancement of this goal".
Stating that we urge the ministers and officials of the two countries to carefully target the development of relations between the two countries in their meetings and agree on the details and figures, the Emir of Qatar added, "Executive officials in Iran and Qatar should hold meetings to determine a clear and achievable goal for the development of economic relations between the two countries".
In another part of his speech, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani referred to Qatar's firm position in defending the rights of the Iranian people in the field of peaceful nuclear activities, and stated, "Qatar has always emphasised that dialogue is the only solution to discords between countries".
"Qatar also believes that the survival of any agreement depends on the adherence and fulfilment of obligations by all parties to the agreement," he said.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani continued to describe defending the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people as one of Qatar's foreign policy priorities and said, "Qatar's firm position on Palestine is the same as the position of the world's freedom-seekers".
He stressed, "Although many efforts have been made to forget the rights of the Palestinians, but this issue will always live on in the minds of the world".
