In phone call with Macron;

Pres. Raisi: Key to reaching an agreement is to secure interests of Iranian people

The presidents of Iran and France discussed the latest status of the Vienna nuclear talks in a telephone conversation.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The presidents of Iran and France discussed the latest status of the Vienna nuclear talks in a telephone conversation.

Speaking in a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said that the Iranian delegation is seriously conducting the Vienna talks, adding, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has offered constructive proposals in the course of negotiations, and has examined the other sides' proposals based on their amount of compliance with the interests of the Iranian people".

Stating that the Iranian delegation has repeatedly stated that it welcomes initiatives that guarantee and protect the rights of the Iranian people, the President added, "Political pressures or claims have been made with the aim of maintaining pressure on the Iranian people, which undermine the prospect of reaching an agreement".

Ayatollah Raisi stressed that any agreement in Vienna should include the lifting of sanctions, the provision of a valid guarantee and the cessation of political issues and claims.

Stating that the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran's interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the IAEA's numerous reports confirming the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities prove that some countries' claims are false, the President said, "In order to prove its good will, the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly emphasised professional cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and in this regard, we need to be careful about the obstructive actions of the enemies".

In this phone call, the French President Emmanuel Macron said that good progress has been made in the Vienna talks and we hope that the talks lead to conclusions as soon as possible.

The presidents of Iran and France also discussed the latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic and developments in the region.

Referring to Iran's active role in the fight against terrorism alongside Iraq and Syria, Ayatollah Raisi stated, "If it were not for Iran, especially Martyr Soleimani's effective confrontation with terrorism, ISIS would have deployed its forces in Europe today".
