AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaeili named Seyed Sadeq Hosseini as the new head of the country’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
In a decree on Tuesday, Esmaeili put Hosseini at the head of organization, which is tasked with planning, coordinating and facilitating Iranians’ pilgrimage trips to holy sites in other countries.
In the decree, the culture minister highlighted Hosseini’s past experiences and his revolutionary spirit and hoped he would use the capacities of the organization to enhance Hajj and pilgrimage affairs.
Born in 1965, Hosseini has a PhD in Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and law.
He has been the international affairs deputy of Iran’s Expediency Council.
He will replace Ali Reza Rashidian who has been the head of the organization since December 2018.
