AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Criticizing the deteriorating situation in Yemen and the food and medicine famine, Dr. Shajreh said, “These people resist without any means, and despite the destruction of all their infrastructure, and do not bow down to the arrogant.”
Coinciding with the intensification of the aggression of the Arab-Western-Hebrew coalition in attacking the oppressed people of Yemen, the International Conference “Investigating the Dimensions of the Aggression against Yemen” was held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, by the Arbaeen International Foundation in cooperation with the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly and coordinated institutions.
After thanking for the invitation to the conference, Dr. Massoud Shajreh, Chairman of the London Commission on Human Rights, said, “Our support for the Yemeni people is not only because of the invasion of rich countries, but also because of the issue of genocide in the country for the last 8 years.”
“In addition, all infrastructure and hospitals have been destroyed. The United Nations has also called the situation in Yemen one of the greatest catastrophes,” added the head of the London Commission for Human Rights, condemning the indiscriminate bombing and killing of civilians.
“Every year, it is announced that the Yemeni people are oppressed, thousands of Yemeni children die due to malnutrition, the medical equipment is exhausted, there are few hospitals that are not destroyed, the people do not even have access to bread,” he said.
“Sanctions are also a war crime against civilians,” Dr. Shajreh stated, “Sanctions are of the most important factors that destroy everything.”
“The United States, Europeans, and other countries are selling arms to the UAE and Saudi Arabia to attack civilians, claiming that the arms sales are for money,” said the head of the London Commission on Human Rights, in protest of the silence of the international community.
“The amount of money that buyers spend to buy these weapons and armaments in the Yemeni war is one or one and a half percent of the total income of the countries that sell weapons. This means that the purchase price of these weapons has no effect on the economy of Western countries. In fact, these dependent (Arab) countries commit crimes on behalf of the Western countries,” he said, explaining the facts about arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
“We must put pressure on the international community because the lives of millions are at stake. We must put pressure on the United Nations,” Dr. Shajreh said, describing this crime as the most hateful act of Western and Arab countries.
“Of course, Western governments have the veto and will veto UN’s any decisions on the issue. But we must do our best and speak freely in all the tribunes that Yemen must be liberated. We must support Yemen,” the head of the London Commission on Human Rights emphasized.
“I pray for the Yemenis, and I’m sure that they eventually will win. I pray that the Yemenis and the Houthis become independent. The tyrants and oppressors will learn a lesson and will be tried in the court of divine justice,” he said, describing the situation of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in increasing losses.
