AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The head of the Islamic Center of Jakarta, Sheikh Majid Hakim Elahi, who is also the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s representative in Indonesia, said convergence in the Muslim world has always been stronger when there was an emphasis on spirituality and Irfan.
He also urged that Muslim countries’ governments should have a firm belief in the necessity of Islamic unity and make it a basis for their domestic and foreign policies.
The cleric added that efforts to eliminate biases, wrong attitudes and sectarianism are important for enhancing unity.
He underlined the role of Muslim leaders in this regard, saying they should take practical steps and pave the way for unity.
Another important thing to do is to show to everyone what damages disunity in the Islamic Ummah can bring about, he stated.
Also, the advantages and achievements of unity should be explained to Muslims, Sheikh Hakim Elahi added.
He stressed that while differences among Islamic schools of thought cannot be eliminated, what matters is focusing on commonalities.
Islamic unity can set the ground for formation of the new Islamic civilization, the cleric went on to say.
He also said that unity will help Muslims strengthen their position in the face of the enemies, especially the US and the Zionist regime.
