AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A Russian security officer who had met former IRGC Qods Force commander General Qasem Soleimani in Syria said that he was a brave, hero commander who would never be forgotten.
Yevgeny Goncharov who works in a Russian military organization told Islamic Republic News Agency correspondent in Moscow on Saturday that he had met General Soleimani in Syria by accident.
He recalled the encounter happening in a desert in Syria where Soleimani helped the Russian officer pass through Americans-made barricades to reach a camp after he was invited to a coffee by the general.
Significantly impressed by Soleimani's character at the first meeting, Goncharov described him as an audacious military commander who was, at the same time, so kind and gracious.
Goncharov has organized several exhibitions to introduce anti-terrorism heroes to the Russian people in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Lipetsk and Rostov-on-Don cities in Russia and in Syrian capital Damascus.
The Russian officer said that he had put on display many pictures and portrays of General Soleimani in these exhibitions.
He also said that he was in charge of constructing a memorial monument to commemorate the heroes who fought terrorists in Syria and General Soleimani along with two other Iranian figures would be among those.
General Soleimani and former Iraqi Mobilization Unit Forces commander Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis along with eight other companions were assassinated by the US army in a terrorist drone attack on January 3, 2020.
The attack was carried out at the direct order of former US President Donald Trump.
