Alvand Destroyer joins Iran's naval fleet

Alvand Destroyer, the newest warship of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, was set afloat in an official launching ceremony attended by the Deputy Army Commander for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani here on Sunday.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Alvand Destroyer, the newest warship of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy, was set afloat in an official launching ceremony attended by the Deputy Army Commander for Coordination Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani here on Sunday.

The head of the IRI Navy Strategic Industrial Workshops said at the ceremony that Alvand Destroyer was overhauled after 46,000 hours of intensive work of the IRI Navy Strategic Industrial Workshops designers, engineers, technicians and expert, during which this modern destroyer was equipped with surface to surface and surface to depth defense terminals.

“Meanwhile, four submarines of Martoob al-Sabehat 15 type, a D3 SH helicopter, a Friendship F27 plane, and a Havana BU7 hovercraft, which delivered to our experts workshop for repairs and modernization were all overhauled and delivered to the related army and navy units," he added.

192 highly expert personnel worked 82,000 hours on those submarines and 11,000 hours of personal work led to the modernization and overhauling of the D3 SH helicopter, he said.

"Meanwhile, the work on overhauling F27 fighter jet of the IRI Navy was completed by 29,492 person/hour continuous work, and the work of BH7 Hovercraft by 84,70 person/hour work,” he concluded.
