Iran's President: Disability cannot stop human growth, excellence

Emphasising the need to address and resolve the problems of the disabled, the President said, "The law on the protection of the disabled must be implemented quickly, comprehensively and fully".

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Emphasising the need to address and resolve the problems of the disabled, the President said, "The law on the protection of the disabled must be implemented quickly, comprehensively and fully".

Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi met with representatives of the disabled on Friday night after the extraordinary meeting of the cabinet, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and said, "Today is a reminder to all managers to pay attention to the dear disabled people, and we have a duty and responsibility to address their problems".

Emphasising that disability is not a limitation, the President said, "The philosophy of creation is that one is tested by having something and the other is tested by not having something, and one with health and the other with disability".

Dr Raisi pointed out, "You have a physical disability and we have a duty to solve your problems and both of us will be tested by God according to these cases, so there is no difference between us in this regard".

The President said, "Although many disabled people have physical problems, they have bright hearts and the indicator of human growth is not the eye of the head, but the eye of the heart".

Ayatollah Raisi stated, "I believe that one of the things that make a person grow and excel is to serve his parents and those who have a physical disability for any reason".

The President stated, "Disability cannot stop the growth and excellence of human beings, just as many disabled people in our country had good excellence and progress in various fields, including science, culture and sports".

The President stressed the need to provide educational equipment for the blind and equipment for the disabled, saying, "Equipment such as wheelchairs and canes should be provided for the disabled and it is better that the relevant authorities follow up to produce such equipment in the country".

Ayatollah Raisi also stressed the need to implement the law on the use of means of transportation (trains and planes) for the disabled, which is considered as a discount, and called for the activation of the fund for the protection of job opportunities for the disabled.

Dr Raisi emphasised, "The government is determined that the disabled should not suffer more than suffering from disability".
