In a telephone conversation with the UN Secretary General, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that despite the failure of the US and EU in delivering their commitments, Iran has entered the Vienna talks trying to reach a good agreement on lifting the sanctions.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In a telephone conversation with the UN Secretary General, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that despite the failure of the US and EU in delivering their commitments, Iran has entered the Vienna talks trying to reach a good agreement on lifting the sanctions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian spoke by telephone with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on regional and international issues, including developments in Afghanistan and the lifting sanctions talks in Vienna.

Describing the characteristics of a good agreement, Amir Abdollahian added: "The opposing parties must return to their full obligations in the JCPOA; then, Iran will also stop its compensatory measures."

He further referred to the constructive talks between the President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Tehran, and added: "Tehran will continue technical cooperation with the IAEA."

Welcoming the start of the talks and his full support for the full revival of the JCPOA, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed hope for the positive outcome of the talks.

He called Iran's request for verifying lifting sanctions as logical.

The UN Secretary-General called for the efforts of all parties to build trust and stressed the full support of the United Nations in these talks.

Referring to developments in Afghanistan, Amir Abdollahian emphasized the formation of an inclusive government and offered concern over the humanitarian situation on the eve of the cold season.

He pointed to the immigration crisis, sanctions on the financial resources of the Afghan people and the ISIS terrorist acts as causes of the crisis in Afghanistan.
