Pres. Raisi: Iran's foreign policy priority to expand trade with regional states

Iran's President said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to improve the level of its relations and cooperation with Uzbekistan in all fields, including economy, transportation, energy and the fight against terrorism".

On the sidelines of the 15th ECO Summit, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and described the region's potential for deepening relations as a good opportunity for the two countries.

He said, "In the current global conditions, cooperation between regional countries turns many threats into opportunities, and with the active presence of countries in the region, there is no room for foreign interference".

Ayatollah Raisi described the development of relations with Uzbekistan important and pointed out the volume of economic exchanges between the two countries and stressed, "The foreign ministers of Iran and Uzbekistan should draw a roadmap for long-term cooperation".

Afghanistan was another topic of discussion between the two presidents, on which both emphasised the establishment of an inclusive government with the presence of all Afghan people and ethnic groups, as well as the establishment of lasting peace and security in the country.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also praised Iran's active approach in the region, saying, "Peace and stability in the region will be achieved with the participation of indigenous countries, and Uzbekistan welcomes any kind of cooperation with Iran".

The President of Uzbekistan described the economic capacities and exchanges of the two countries as a suitable platform for the development of relations and called for an increase in the volume of trade between the two countries.
