President Raisi arrives in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has travelled to Turkmenistan at the official invitation of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to attend the 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), arrived in Ashgabat a few minutes ago and was officially welcomed by his Turkmen counterpart.

Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation arrived at Ashgabat Airport on Saturday night and President Raisi was welcomed by his Turkmen counterpart upon arrival.

At the ceremony, after the national anthems of the two countries were played, the two Presidents introduced their accompaying delegations to each other.

The 15th ECO Summit will be hosted by Turkmenistan on Sunday, December 28th, and the country will chair the ECO.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is going to attend the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), explain the positions and proposals of the Islamic Republic of Iran in strengthening regional and international relations, especially the removal of obstacles and increasing the level of cooperation and economic exchanges of ECO member countries.

Ayatollah Raisi is also going to meet with his counterparts participating in the summit to discuss ways to develop and deepen bilateral relations.

Meeting with Iranians living in Turkmenistan, Iranian businesspersons and participants in the ECO summit is another programme of the President's visit.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan are 10 members of the ECO.
