AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Allama Sheikh Ahmad Al-Qattan in speaking at a symposium titled "Islamic Unity; Forthcoming Achievements and Challenges" in Lebanon, referred to the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the issues currently faced by the Islamic world and the oppressed people and said:" Iran is a true supporter and defender of the such issues.

A symposium titled "Islamic Unity; Forthcoming Achievements and Challenges " was held in the Imam Khomeini Cultural Center in the Lebanese Northern city of Taria, attended by Cultural Attaché of Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Khameyar, and a group of cultural and social figures.

The two speakers explained the issues related to Islamic unity and the need to confront the conspiracies of the enemies of the Muslim nations.

In his speech at the meeting, Khameyar, addressed the historical roots of the process of unification among Muslims, as well as the challenges facing the Islamic world.

Khameyar emphasized that great philosophers and thinkers, especially Muslim scholars, brought up the concept of a united Ummah and worked towards the formation of a utopia on their agenda by setting religious and human values as governing principles and criteria.

Emphasizing that the concept of Islamic unity we are looking for is not derived from an ideological approach to develop the influence and geographical scope of a particular religion, he said Islamic unity means trying to prepare the ground for the formation of a single nation and ultimately the formation of an Islamic utopia (Ideal City).

Khameyar pointed out that in unity, there is a power that enables societies to stand against rebellion, oppression, chaos, takfir and all worldly evils.

Iran"s Cultural Attaché in Lebanon addressed the historical course of the process of unity among Muslim nations from the beginning to the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and said the Islamic Revolution of Iran is a turning point in the history of proximity movements, because this revolution created an origin and paved the way for targeted relationships and proximity activities.

He added: Imam Khomeini (RA) sought to create unity and integrity of the Islamic world by establishing the principle of revolutionary and original Islam. After the Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of the Revolution has continued his path and has always called on Muslim nations to unite, resist and fight against global arrogance.

Then, Allama Sheikh "Ahmad Al-Qattan", a prominent Lebanese Sunni cleric, addressed the current situation in the Islamic world and the challenges facing the process of Islamic unity.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Qattan, stating that the takfiri ideology exists in all religions and denominations, said the savage takfiri ideology of ISIS has nothing to do with genuine Islam, but is derived from a terrorist identity that is rooted in different religions and sects.

Emphasizing that religion does not lead to coercion, he said Takfiri currents try to use violence and coercion to convince people of their identity and ideas, while Islam is a religion of peace and mercy, tolerance and coexistence.

He also added that ISIL turned people away from religion and destroyed the credibility and reputation of Islam, because this terrorist group presented a false image of Islam to the world.

The Sunni cleric continued his speech by expressing the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the issues of the Islamic world and the oppressed and said Iran is a true supporter and defender of the issues of the Islamic Ummah and in this regard does not differentiate between Shiites and Sunnis.

He explained: "Iran supports the Palestinian issue, so it has practically defended the Sunnis in the Palestinian territories." In Syria and Iraq, supported the oppressed in these countries, regardless of their religion.
