AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): A senior Iranian cleric said understanding the Holy Quran is necessary for achieving comprehensive unity in the Muslim world.
“If we want to achieve comprehensive unity, we must return to the teachings of the Holy Quran and put an end to their isolation," Sheikh Abdol Karim Biazar Shirazi said in an interview.
In that case, and by acting upon those teachings, Islamic unity will certainly be materialized, the cleric, who is a member of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) added.
He referred to Takfir and lack of knowledge about other Islamic denominations’ beliefs as major sources of discord among Muslims.
Sheikh Biazar Shirazi, who is a founder of the University of Islamic Denominations, highlighted the role of the university in promoting Islamic proximity, including by admitting students from various Islamic schools of thought and different countries.
He said that after entering the university, they learned that accusations leveled against other sects are mostly untrue and baseless.
One of those accusations, he noted, was that Shia Muslims have a different Quran named “Mus’haf Fatimah” but the students of the university saw for themselves that it is totally false and the Quran of Shias is exactly the same as the one read by other Muslims.
