Cyberspace, a platform for attacking religious beliefs: scholar

Religious beliefs are the most important factors preventing man from committing sin and transgression, says Hoj. Vaez Mousavi, a lecturer at Imam Reza holy shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Religious beliefs are the most important factors preventing man from committing sin and transgression, says Hoj. Vaez Mousavi, a lecturer at Imam Reza holy shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran.

Belief in Oneness of God and the resurrection, he says, is the most important religious belief reflected in many verses of the Holy Quran.

“A true believer is always careful about his deeds or behavior, because he knows that God is witness to his actions in any case, and on the Day of Judgment he must be held accountable for those actions,” he noted.

He added: “Many people have knowledge and awareness, yet this knowledge does not prevent them from sinning. For example, man knows that telling lies is bad, but this knowledge does not prevent him from lying.” He further noted that only strong belief in God can save man.

According to Mousavi, cyberspace has turned today into a platform for attacking religious beliefs, and “we must all protect ourselves against the attacks of the enemy by boosting our religious knowledge and becoming aware of our beliefs.”

“Belief is transmittable. When parents have the right religious belief, it will be transmitted to their children, because they see the effects of this belief in the behavior of their parents,” he commented.
He further pointed out that in case of developing religious beliefs, many social and family problems, including divorce, will be resolved.

“In a society where people have strong religious beliefs, there will be no news of economic corruption or suicide,” he remarked, adding “Because the people of that society believe in God and know that God is the patron of His servants at all times.”
