A main factor behind the Islamic movement which was started by Sayyid Jamal was the strong inclination of those who claimed they were reformers after Sayyid Jamal and his servant to the Wahabi thought. They were confined to the narrow vision of this sect. They changed the movement into a Salafi movement and in place of following the sunnah of the past they followed the sunnah of Ibn Taymiyyah. In reality, they explained the beginning of Islam as being Hanbali. The revolutionary spirit of fighting the occupiers was transformed into a spirit of fighting any theological difference to Hanbalism – especially Ibn Taymiyyah Hanbali.
