Pres. Raisi: Abolition of visas for both countries Iraqi PM’s good news for Iran

The President stressed the need to develop Iran-Iraq relations in the political, economic and cultural fields and said, "In today's meeting, the will of the two governments to further develop Tehran-Baghdad relations in all areas was emphasised."

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The President stressed the need to develop Iran-Iraq relations in the political, economic and cultural fields and said, "In today's meeting, the will of the two governments to further develop Tehran-Baghdad relations in all areas was emphasised."

Speaking in a joint press conference with the Iraqi Prime Minister on Sunday, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi stated that Tehran-Baghdad relations are not just neighbourly relations, adding, “The deep bonds between Tehran and Baghdad stems from the beliefs and hearts of two nations, two countries and two governments”.

The President said, "Despite the wishes of the enemies, the level of relations between Iran and Iraq will develop day by day".

Ayatollah Raisi stated, “The development of relations between the two countries can strengthen the role of Tehran and Baghdad in regional, global and international relations, and today the emphasis was on strengthening and deepening the relations between the two countries”.

Referring to the good news of the Iraqi Prime Minister about the abolition of travel visas for the two countries, Dr Raisi said, “In today’s meeting, the will of the two countries to develop the rail corridor and accelerate establishing rail connection between Shalamcheh and Basra were stressed, and the development of financial and monetary relations between the two countries were discussed”.

Referring to the approach of Arba’een, Ayatollah Raisi noted, "Undoubtedly, in the current situation of coronavirus, the protection of the lives of the dear pilgrims is very important, but at the same time, the Iraqi Prime Minister promised to increase accepting as many pilgrims as possible”.

The Prime Minister of Iraq, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, also stressed at the press conference that Iraq attaches special importance to the development and strengthening of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying, “We discussed a set of cases related to development of bilateral relations and we are determined to expand the level of our relations in the interests of the two nations as much as possible”.

The Iraqi Prime Minister stated, "In today's meeting, we discussed the increase and development of trade exchanges between the two countries".

Appreciating Iran's support for the Iraqi government and people in the fight against terrorism, Al-Kadhimi said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran stood by the Iraqi people from the very beginning to fight ISIL terrorists, and the Iraqi people will always be grateful for this support".

The Iraqi Prime Minister stated, "Iraq's position on the relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran is stable and the Iraqi government and people will stand by the Iranian people and government in all areas".
