Iran asks Iraq for more entrance permits for Iranian pilgrims

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has called for more entrance permits by Iraqi officials for Iranian pilgrims wishing to travel to holy shrine of the third Shia Imam Hossein (AS).

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has called for more entrance permits by Iraqi officials for Iranian pilgrims wishing to travel to holy shrine of the third Shia Imam Hossein (AS).

In a phone conversation on Wednesday, he asked his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Mohammed Hussein to increase the number of permits for Iranian pilgrims of Imam Hussain’s holy shrine during the mourning ceremonies marking the 40th day after his martyrdom anniversary which is called Arbaeen.

He also exchanged views with him on the latest status of the two countries’ relations, as well as the outcomes of the recent Baghdad conference.

He meanwhile stressed that Iran expected Iraq to increase their number during the grand rituals while observing the health protocols related to the Corona pandemic.

Hussain, too, said that the Iraqi government is surveying the ways for increasing the number of Imam Hussain pilgrims while observing the health protocols and said he will consider the request in due time.
