In a message, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, the Secretary-General of AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly congratulated the release of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the founder of the Nigerian Islamic Movement.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In a message, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, the Secretary-General of AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly congratulated the release of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the founder of the Nigerian Islamic Movement.

In his message addressing Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the founder of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, congratulated him on his release.

The message referring to the attempts of Sheikh Zakzaky and the oppressed Shiites of Nigeria, the Secretary-General of the Assembly appreciated all activists, legal organizations and the team of lawyers that worked for the release of the founder of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, together with the loyal Nigerian people.

Another part of this message points to the support of clerics and followers of different denominations and religions for Sheikh Zakzaky as a good example of the interaction between religions, and proximity between denominations for freedom, justice and spirituality.

The message of the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly to Sheikh Zakzaky reads:

In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Your Excellency, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Haj Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky

Assalamu Alaykum

The news on the release of you and your honourable spouse added to our joy on Eid-e Ghadir.

You were unlawfully detained on the days of grief and sorrow of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) [the month of Safar], and now you are recharged on the days of joy of Prophet’s family, and this is a happy coincidence for us.

As you have been “the symbol of peace, abiding by the law, and the law itself”, the “messenger of the peaceful coexistence of the followers of religions” and the “defender of human rights and freedoms”, during those six years of your detention, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly has made many legal, political, propagational, media and human rights endeavours in order to defend you and those oppressed Nigerian Shiites.

Now, on the behalf of the members of the Assembly around the world, I deem it necessary to express my gratitude to the human rights activists and organizations that defended you, the team of lawyers, the judges who voted for your innocence in both courts, and above all, the loyal people who have risked their lives and security all these years and called for your liberation regularly attending peaceful rallies.

I also need to appreciate the clerics and followers of other religions who advocated you along with Shiites. This experience is a good example of the interaction between religions and proximity between denominations for freedom, justice and spirituality.

I thank God Almighty and congratulating this happy event, I pray to God for the health of you and your wife- the mother of six martyrs, and I also ask Heaven to award you more achievements.

“What is with you must vanish: what is with Allah will endure. And We will certainly bestow, on those who patiently persevere, their reward according to the best of their actions.” (Quran al-Karim, Surah al An-Nahl, Verse: 96)

It should be noted that the verdict on the release of Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife had already been issued by a court, but the Nigerian government and military refused to comply with it.

Though he was announced not guilty and should have been released earlier, the Nigerian government didn’t execute the said verdict under various excuses and had not even permitted his access to medical care.
