Sheikh Saeed bin Nasser Al-Khater, one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent Shiite clerics, has died at the age of 89 in the Al-Qudaih area in Qatif province.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Sheikh Saeed bin Nasser Al-Khater, one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent Shiite clerics, has died at the age of 89 in the Al-Qudaih area in Qatif province.

Al-Khater is one of the few Saudi clerics who had an academic education and in addition to his official job and social work, he was also an Imam Hussain (a.s.) preacher.

In addition to religious studies, he studied at the American University of Beirut and in 1962 received a scholarship in Arabic literature from Aramco, Saudi Arabia.

Al-Khater is probably the first Imam Hussain (a.s.) preacher to study at the American University of Beirut.

The establishment of a sports club, charity and school in Al-Qudaih is one of the prominent actions of this Shiite figure in Saudi Arabia.

He was born in Al-Qudaih in 1933. He learned to read, write and Quranic sciences from the late Mullah Hassan Al-Muqili.

Sheikh Al-Khater was elected to the city council from 1967 to 1970 as the representative of the city of Al-Qudaih. He also worked as a reporter for Al-Qafela magazine, published by Saudi Aramco, and represented Aramco libraries at book fairs in the Middle East.

He was holding mourning ceremony for Imam Hussain (a.s.) in a husseiniyya called Al-Khatir in Al-Qudaih.
