Iran will fly pilgrims to Najaf in 2 months: official

Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Director Mostafa Khaksar Ghahrudi said on Saturday that Iran is likely to start direct flights to the Iraqi city of Najaf within the next two months.

Iran wants to facilitate air travels to Najaf for Iranian pilgrims and is seeking to start direct flights to the holy city as soon as the security of Najf airport is ensured, Ghahrudi said. Currently Iranians travel to Najaf by bus to visit the shrine of the first Imam of Shia Muslims Ali Ibn Abi Talib.
