AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On the 40th day of the terrorist attack on Sayed Al-Shuhada Girls’ High School in Dasht-e Barchi, Kabul, and the martyrdom of tens of innocent fasting student girls, a commemoration ceremony, organized by the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, was held on Thursday, June 17, 202. The ceremony was a part of a series of AhlulBayt’s virtual meetings on the subject of “Why the Shiites are oppressed in Afghanistan; Strategies to strengthen the Shiite community.”

At the ceremony, referring to the painful tragedy of the martyrdom of Shiite schoolgirls in Afghanistan, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “The terrorist explosion at Sayed Al-Shuhada Girls’ High School in Dasht-e Barchi, Kabul, which killed 85 people and injured 150 others, was one of the most tragic terrorist incidents in the contemporary era. Most of the martyrs were 13- to 16-year-old girls. Some of the martyrs of the incident were torn to pieces. So that their identification was possible only by their stationery. On the other hand, the families of these martyrs were below the poverty line.”

“Regarding the crime of martyring female students in Kabul, one should read this verse: “بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ” (For what sin she was slain) (Quran, 81: 9). Although condemnation messages were issued from all over the world after this incident, and the seminaries of Qom and Najaf, the Grand Source of Emulations, Sunni scholars, pope, and various organizations condemned it, this incident is one of the most painful and horrible incidents in Afghanistan since the beginning of the American military presence in the country, even in the contemporary era,” he continued.

Following in the webinar, Ayatollah Mohammad Hashem Salehi Modarres, Chairman of the Council of Shiite Ulama of Afghanistan, said, “The martyrs of the Sayed Al-Shuhada Girls’ High School in Kabul were the followers of the school of Ashura and Imam Hussein (a.s.). These oppressed children were torn to pieces. Throughout history, such a crime is either rare or unparalleled. The successive attacks on Afghan Shiites are not accidental, and our enemy, who is the enemy of Islam and humanity, targeted our people with prior preparation. Our people have a brilliant history, and according to Grand Ayatollah Hakim, “I have seen less like the people of Afghanistan, a religious people who love Source of Emulation and Ulama.” The people of Afghanistan have a brilliant record of adhering to Islam, participating in jihad, learning science, and promoting culture.”

“Our people are peace-loving people and have lived as brothers with all the other brothers in Afghanistan. The first motive for attacks on schools, mosques, hospitals, and universities in Afghanistan is to create religious divisions. But our people are smarter than to fall into this trap. Throughout history, the Shiite people of Afghanistan have not fought with their Sunni brothers. The people of other countries should learn from Afghanistan’s people that we did not have a Shiite-Sunni war in the country. The enemies of Islam stir up discord in Afghan society in order to prevent the growth of talents and scientific prosperity,” he added.

Referring to the role of ISIL in the terrorist attack in Kabul, Sayed Hussein Alemi Balkhi, former Minister of Refugees of Afghanistan, and a member of the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “ISIL has carried out similar attacks before the recent terrorist operation. Recently, a senior Afghan government official pursuing security issues said that ISIL is targeting Shiites everywhere. It does not matter to them whether these Shiites are women, children, or men, it attacks them everywhere. One week before the terrorist attack on the Sayed Al-Shuhada Girls’ High School, a senior Afghan official said that ISIL had said in a message that the group would attack the country’s Shiites if the group’s prisoners were not released by the government.”

At the end of the ceremony, Ms. Tavakoli, the director of Sayed Al-Shuhada Girls’ High School in Dasht-e Barchi, Kabul, said, “The martyrs of the Kabul terrorist incident were those who, according to the religious teachings and orders of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), educating them is a religious duty. They did not commit any sin except obedience to the command of the Prophet. The Kabul terrorist attack was the saddest of its kind, and the least recurring in the history of ongoing violence in Afghanistan. The incident shocked the world, and confused today’s sleeping people across the globe from the cruelty of the terrorists.”

It should be mentioned that on the evening of Saturday, May 8, 2021, 85 people were martyred and more than 150 were injured in three consecutive explosions in front of Sayed al-Shuhada High School in the west of Kabul (Dasht-e Barchi). The bombings took place in the 13th security district west of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. As the school closed and students left, a Toyota Corolla car bomb exploded at the entrance to a clinic connected to the school. Then, as the students were fleeing, two landmines exploded in their path.
