AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): During his visit to Iraq, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, met Hojat al-Islam Abdul Mahdi Karbalai, representative of Grand Ayatollah Sistani and the custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hossein (a.s.).
In this meeting, referring to the approach of the Assembly, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “Our approach in AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly is to link the Marjaiat of Shia (Shiite Source of Emulation) and the followers of AhlulBayt (a.s.) in the world in order to use the existing capacity in the world to introduce the discourse of Marjaiat to the world. To achieve this goal, the Assembly has integrated all the tools, such as the university.”
“Today we are facing the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, and even if it were not, we should have paid special attention to cyberspace. We have different programs for cyberspace. The first is the 42-language propagation portal, which collects content in various languages on Tafsir (exegesis of Quran), theological, hadith, jurisprudential, and legal issues and is easily accessible to all,” Ayatollah Ramazani added.
“The most important objective that we seek to achieve in the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly is to promote the flows of rationality, spirituality, justice, and resistance against the dictatorships of the flow of arrogance. In the face of extremism in the name of Islam and Shia, the Assembly considers it as a duty to convey moderation in understanding the issues to others, which is a difficult and great task,” said the Secretary-General, referring to the objectives of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“The shrine of 6 infallible Imams (a.s.) is in Iraq, and the seminary of Najaf also has a large capacity. Therefore, we have a duty to communicate with the Marjaiat (Shiite Source of Emulation), and to convey their call, to spread Shiite culture, to others. For 11 years at the Sorbonne (University in Paris), I had dialogues with scholars of other religions, and the result of those dialogues is a 500-page book ready for publication. In my opinion, who is familiar with the dialogue, the meeting of Grand Ayatollah Sistani with the Pope was valuable. Especially the issues that he raised in this meeting are a source of honor for us,” stated Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to Iraq’s huge capacity.
“The capacity of Najaf must be used. Classes should be established in this city, educational spaces should be created, and in general, the discussion of educational activities and educational promotion should be taken seriously. We in the Assembly are ready to cooperate in this field,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“I am interested in renewing the memorandum of cooperation between the Holy Shrine of Imam Hossein (a.s.) and the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and creating a new atmosphere for bilateral cooperation. With all sincerity, we came to be together with you, to be able to use this collective capacity to serve to promote the culture of the AhlulBayt (a.s.),” he mentioned.
“We have worked on the topics of rationality, spirituality, and justice for many years, and the result of these studies is several books. There are 4,000 fake spiritualities in Europe and America. At the Sorbonne, studies on Shiite spirituality are underway. Shia has the strongest spirituality and the world is thirsty for this spirituality. One of the best holy places where Shiite spirituality can be promoted is the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (a.s.). We are all servants of the AhlulBayt (a.s.),” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
The Pope’s meeting with Grand Ayatollah Sistani major turning point in world’s view of Shia Marjaiat
In this meeting, Hojat al-Islam Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Sistani and the custodian of Holy Shrine of Imam Hossein (a.s.) said, “Previously, there was cooperation between the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly and the Holy Shrine of Imam Hossein (a.s.) in the field of holding conferences. We have many common affairs in the field of denomination of AhlulBayt (a.s.). Among them, we can mention the revival of the heritage of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and the Shia scholars. We are ready to cooperate fully with the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Assembly in this regard in order to revive the heritage of AhlulBayt (a.s.). We have already held conferences on the great Shiite jurists.”
“The Pope’s meeting with Grand Ayatollah Sistani was a major turning point in the world’s view of Shiite Marjaiat, and showed that this Source of Emulation also addresses the human issues of the nations of the world and that Shia Marjaiat is not only concerned with jurisprudential issues. During his trip to Iraq, the Pope only visited Shia Marjaiat. This shows that the Pope has realized that Shia is a religion in line with human principles. This is a very important point, and it was known before, and the Pope’s meeting with Grand Ayatollah Sistani is just an emphasis on this point. In the face of the tarnishing the image of Islam in the world, we must show the identity of true Islam in the face of human affairs and intellectual issues,” he continued.
Hojat al-Islam Pahlavanzadeh Behbahani, the President of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Assembly of Iraq said, “Every year in the summer, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Assembly (Iraqi Branch) holds courses for elementary and middle school students. In 2018, about 12,000 students participated in these courses in different Iraqi provinces. The summer courses of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Assembly were good courses in terms of educational charts and professors.”
