AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In the 15th episode of the special internet program “Facing the Sky”, which is broadcast on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, referring to the philosophy of charity in Islam, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani Gilani stated, “Almsgiving means that a person gives his property to another. One of the fruits of this deed is solving the problem of poverty in society.”

“To alleviate poverty, God Almighty commands the wealthy to give their property to the poor in the form of khums, zakat, taxes, alms, and so on,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, pointing out that poverty is one of the problems of society and poor people may commit social harms such as theft, murder, etc.

“Unfortunately, class discrimination in society has caused many problems, including poverty, and to solve this problem, everyone must do his duty,” he said, pointing out that Islam has never supported poverty.

“The Holy Quran has also commanded in various verses about charity for the pleasure of God,” emphasized Ayatollah Ramazani, pointing out that in order to eradicate poverty, the charity must be institutionalized as a principle in society.

“In another part of the Holy Quran, it is stated that do not cast yourself in the destruction by leaving alms,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Charity also prevents the destruction of society,” he clarified, pointing out that if a person spends something, God will give it in return.

“Charity creates a platform for perfection and increases wealth,” noted Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to other effects of charity in human beings and society.

“Almsgiving causes man to institutionalize the spirit of not belonging to material things,” stated the Secretary-General of the World Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), saying that almsgiving replaces wealth and strengthens the spirit of sacrifice in human beings

“Almsgiving strengthens the spirit of existence and forgiveness in human beings,” he noted, pointing out that worldly affairs are perishable.

“In addition to alleviating poverty, the charity promotes spiritual growth and excellence in human beings,” stated Ayatollah Ramazani, emphasizing that all human ownership of worldly property is credit and the real owner is God Almighty.

Imam Hassan (a.s.) is a role model in this regard because he always donated his property without any reproach or expectation.

“This good attribute caused him to be given the title of ‘benevolent of the AhlulBayt (a.s.)’,” he added, referring to the fact that Imam Hassan (a.s.) traded his property with God.

“We should all imitate the charity, almsgiving, and forgiveness of the AhlulBayt (a.s.),” Ayatollah Ramazani noted, emphasizing that generosity is the habit of the AhlulBayt (a.s.).

“In the face of the unkindness of the enemies, Imam Hassan (a.s.) always had love, affection, charity, and forgiveness,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Man’s view of wealth, power, and responsibility must be based on faith. Man must train himself in this way,” he said, stating that man should not belong to and depend on worldly affairs.
