Result of Iran’s Strategic Resistance to US Maximum Pressure

An expert on the Middle East affairs, referring to the effects of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strategic resistance to US maximum pressure, cited the weakening of the position of Mohammed bin Salman and Benjamin Netanyahu and the improvement of Axis of Resistance in the region as examples of the effects of this resistance.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In an interview, Hassan Hanizadeh explained Iran’s resistance to pressures imposed by Donald Trump’s administration and said: Iran has gone through the most unprecedented sanctions in the contemporary history during the four years of Donald Trump’s presidency. About 700 legal and real sanctions were imposed on Iran by Trump from 2018 to 2020; but the resistance of the Iranian people and the tactics of the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution caused Iran to pass this difficult stage and with the defeat of Trump in the United States, the pressures seem to decrease and the conditions for cooperation with other countries improve and this shows that Iran’s resistance has had its effect on the United States and the international community.

Regarding the achievements of Iran’s resistance against the United States and its effect on the situation of bin Salman and Netanyahu, the expert said: As the Biden administration observed, Trump’s approach and policy towards Tel Aviv and Riyadh and supporting their demands on the one hand and pressure on Iran on the other hand, has not been successful and has only weakened the US position and made it to decide changing its policies in this regard.

Saying that a large number of cases against the adventurous Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia have been reopened with the victory of Biden, Hanizadeh noted: Since Mohammed bin Salman has embarked on adventures over the past four years using the Donald Trump’s supporting umbrella, therefore the new Washington administration is now seeking to contain him. The assassination of prominent Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, bin Salman’s billions of dollars ransom to Donald Trump, massacre of the Yemeni people by Saudi Arabia and the dire human rights situation in the country are some of the cases reopened by Joe Biden against bin Salman.

He believes that the recent US report on the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi is a prelude to further pressure and the eventual removal of the Saudi Crown Prince from the cycle of power.

Hanizadeh continued: Joe Biden and the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, believe that the former US president’s association with bin Salman has brought heavy political and prestige costs to Washington. For this reason, Biden intends to gradually remove Muhammed bin Salman from power and replace him with former Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, who is now under house arrest.

The expert also referred to bin Salman’s recent contact with Benjamin Netanyahu and said that he had contacted the Zionist prime minister and asked him to use his influence to make Biden put less pressure on the Saudi government and bin Salman himself.

Further elaborating on such issues, the expert on the Middle East affairs said: Therefore two things will happen in the future, and that is to reduce the influence of the two regional adventurers, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and ultimately to remove them from the cycle of power.

According to Hanizadeh, with the departure of the two people from power, a more appropriate political atmosphere will prevail in the region, and as a result, many countries in the region, including the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council countries, will be more willing to cooperate with Iran.

Saying that Iran in the past four years resisted the aggressive policies of Trump and US allies in the region, the expert added: As a result, the policies of the Republicans and Trump himself against Iran have failed, and that failure has led to Trump’s defeat in the 2020 election, therefore now Joe Biden’s new group has come to the conclusion that Iran cannot be forced to retreat by using aggressive methods.

Referring to the effect of Iran’s resistance to the pressure of the US and its allies on the Axis of Resistance, Hanizadeh said: We now see that this has helped to expand Iran’s regional influence, especially as Iraq seeks to expand its political and economic cooperation with Iran. The recent visit of Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to Tehran has been assessed as increasing the level of economic and political cooperation between the two countries and releasing Iran’s blocked assets.

The expert believes that upgrading Iran’s regional and international position can strengthen the Axis of Resistance in the region.

He continued: An example of this is Saudi Arabia’s willingness to put an end to its oppressive war against the Yemeni people; because the Yemeni people, following the example of the resistance of the Iranian people, were able to resist the aggression of the Saudi coalition and now signs of defeat in the Saudi coalition are quite obvious.
