AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Senior priest at Um Al Zennar Church in the Syrian city of Homs highlighted the role of Iran's Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and the resistance movement in liberation of the Christian-dominated regions from the grip of Daesh Takfiri terrorists.

Zuhari Khazal, priest of the Um Al Zennar Church in the western Syrian city of Homs hailed the sacrifices made by General Qassem Soleimani and the resistance movement for protection of the Syrian village against the invasions of Daesh terrorists.

He said,"I am proud to have cooperated with General Soleimani and the resistance movement who played the main role in liberation of al-Qaryatayn village in the suburbs of Homs". He referred to the time Hezbollah forces entered Syria and began defense of all Syrians loyal to their country and praised Hezbollah for boosting the Christian community in Syria.

Located in the historical center of Homs, Saint Mary of the Holy Belt (Um al Zennar) cathedral was built over an underground church dating from the 1st century. The place of worship took its name from the relics of the Holy Girdle, supposed to be part of a belt belonging to the Virgin Mary.

The cathedral was damaged in 2011–2012 during conflict between Daesh terrorist group and the Syrian government security forces.
