AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Israeli Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen made a trip Monday to Sudan and met with top officials in the country, Israeli media reported.
Cohen led a delegation from his ministry and from the National Security Council, holding talks with senior Sudanese officials, including Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan, head of the ruling sovereign council, and Defense Minister Yassin Ibrahim.
Cohen signed a memorandum of understanding with Ibrahim on security-related issues and invited Sudanese leaders to visit the Zionist entity, Israeli Kan public broadcaster reported.
It was the first formal visit of an Israeli minister in the African state.
Three weeks ago, during a visit of the Trump administration’s Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin to Khartoum, Sudan cemented its normalization with the Zionist entity by signing the Abraham Accords.
According to outlet Walla News, in the final weeks of the Trump administration, officials in the White House sought to organize an official signing ceremony attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Sudanese President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
