Iraqi people stage protest in front of French embassy over Macron's anti-Islamic remarks

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Iraqi people and religious figures gathered in front of the French embassy in central Baghdad to protest the French president's insult regarding the republishing of cartoons against the Prophet of Islam (PBUH).

The protesters gathered in front of the French embassy on Monday, condemning Macron's recent heinous comments against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and called on him to apologize.

Iraqi demonstrators, holding the flags of Iraq and al-Hashdal al-Shabi organization (Popular Mobilization Units (PMU)), called for the boycott of French goods.

Also, in a statement, the Fatah Alliance in Iraq condemned Paris' anti-Islamic stance, calling the boycott of the French the least response to the French president's insult to Islam.

The Iraqi people, along with other Muslims in the world, especially the nations of the region, have launched a campaign to ban French goods in response to the French president's insulting remarks.

Earlier, Iraqi parliamentarians and political experts condemned the French president's outrageous remarks and called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to file a lawsuit against Macron at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In another development, a group of Palestinians gathered on Monday in front of a French cultural center in the Gaza Strip, condemning the publication of insulting cartoons of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) in the French media as well as the French President's insult to Islam, calling on him apologized.

Calls to boycott French goods are growing around the world after President Emmanuel Macron's comments against Islam and Muslims.

In a series of insulting comments and far from diplomatic norms Macron on Wednesday accused Muslims of separatism and vowed not to give up cartoons depicting the Prophet of Islam Muhammed (PBUH).

This insulting act has been widely condemned in the Muslim world.
