AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iraq’s top Shia cleric grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali al-Sistani in a message offered condolences to the Kuwaiti nation and new ruler over the death of Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al Sabah.
In the message, Ayatollah Sistani said he received with great sadness the news of the death of the Emir of Kuwait who had judicious stances on the path of serving his people throughout his life, Nina News reported.
He expressed condolences to Kuwaiti people and new Emir and prayed for more development and prosperity for Kuwait.
The body of Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al Sabah, who passed away at the age of 91 on Tuesday, arrived in Kuwait City on Wednesday on a flight from Minnesota, where he had been undergoing treatment in hospital since July.
He was buried in Kuwait City later in the day.
Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad Al Sabah was sworn in as the new emir of the oil-rich Persian Gulf kingdom during a ceremony at the National Assembly on Wednesday.
