Mass rallies commemorate Ashura in Yemen's Sana’a, other provinces

Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, and a number of provinces on Sunday morning staged mass marches, marking Ashura Day and the anniversary of Imam Husain's martyrdom.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Hundreds of thousands of Yemenis in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, and a number of provinces on Sunday morning staged mass marches, marking Ashura Day and the anniversary of Imam Husain's martyrdom.

The events included speeches and poems about Imam Husain's revolution and his true attitude against tyrants and oppressors.

They highlighted the tragedy of Ashura and the tragedy due to the deviation away from Islam's teachings.

They conveyed the similarity of Imam Husain's tragedy, when he stood alone in front of oppressors, to the crimes inflicted on him, his children and his family, and the tragedy of Yemen today, which has been standing for over five years in the face of Saudi-American aggression.

They also linked the revolution of Imam Husain (AS) to the revolution of the martyred Sayyed Husain Badreddeen Al-Houthi, and the tragedy of Karbla'a and Marran.

The protesters called for confronting the Saudi-American-Emirati aggression with money and troops, to defend Yemen’s freedom. The assembled crowds confirmed their support to the Palestinian cause and the defense of the Islamic sanctuaries, and rejected US hegemony in the region.

Thousands of festive events, gatherings, seminars and lectures have been held during the last period in various Yemeni cities, districts, villages and regions to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein.
