AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): In a message, the Iran's President called this year's Muharram month a glorious manifestation of the utter affection of the mourners of Imam Hussein (AS) and thanked the citizens and all the organisers of the ceremonies who deservedly took care to save the lives of Imam Hussein (AS) lovers.

In the message that was sent on Sunday, President Rouhani wrote, "The Muharram ceremony, not only for the Shiites but for all the people of this land and all the free people of the world, is a reminder of the values that lead society to morality, freedom and belief in "good" beyond time and space".

"Ashura does not need to be kept alive, but it is in itself water of life, which gives life and soul to all communities. For us, Imam Hussein (AS) is a lifeboat and his name is honor and his way is his destination," he wrote.

The President added, "Muharram is an endless cultural capacity for the spiritual growth of Iranians, a lasting capacity that can propel Iran toward a right-seeking and truth-seeking society. We cannot -and should not- give up this boiling spring, this irreplaceable capacity, this culture standing on the top, that we have everything we have from Muharram and Safar".

"The outbreak of coronavirus changed all aspects of life in the universe and left no escape for man today except to become more adaptable and flexible. Adapting to the new conditions and following the instructions is not only a civic duty but also a moral and religious one, and it was expected that religious citizens would take the lead in both fulfilling responsibility and adhering to ethics," he wrote.

Dr Rouhani added, "Muharram this year was a glorious manifestation of the utmost affection of the mourners of Imam Hussein (AS) when large and famous assemblies were brought "online" to their homes".

He continued, "Now, the most accurate images of observing physical distancing in our collective memory of this year's mourning is a valuable pride and honour. Our religious civil society has shone in altruism, tolerance and responsibility and this is with no doubt an asset for the future of Iran".

"As President and servant of the Iranian Nation, I thank all the citizens who responsibly accepted the restrictions; I am humbly grateful to all the organisers of mourning ceremonies and the leaders of the religious bodies, who have faithfully entrusted and tried to save the lives of the lovers of Imam Hussein (AS)," he wrote.

At the end, the President added, "Muharram, like Nowruz and Ramadan this year, was an opportunity for Iranians to show collective rationality and responsibility; Hard days have passed and hard days are passing, but our civic and spiritual reserves from these difficult times will make Iran more capable in following the path".
