AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Stating that we have always needed Ashura culture and today, this need is felt more, the President said, "With the resistance that comes from the Ashura culture, the Iranian nation has been able to endure hardships and won against the conspiracies of major powers".
Speaking on Wednesday in a cabinet meeting, Dr Hassan Rouhani stated that with the imposition of maximum US sanctions against Iran, the country's income has decreased by 900 trillion tomans, adding, "By resisting conspiracies and pressures, the Iranian nation did not allow the enemy's goal to overthrow the regime to be achieved".
"Despite the toughest sanctions imposed in the last two years, we have had the most important inaugurations in the country," he said, adding, "Since the beginning of this year, we have had 21 major inaugurations, only one of which is worth $4.7 billion".
Dr Rouhani pointed out, "Under the sanctions, with the free electricity for more than 30 million people throughout the country, the 42-year-old dream has been fulfilled and this is a source of pride for the twelfth government".
The president went on to point out that the pressure of sanctions was redoubled by the outbreak of coronavirus, adding, "When we were dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, we never had a problem getting hospital beds and intensive care".
Dr Rouhani stated, "While in Western countries, the outbreak of coronavirus caused panic among the people and the scarcity of items and daily necessities, and we even witnessed the theft of sanitary supplies and equipment, in our country with the spirit of people's resistance and the efforts of producers, especially corporate activists, knowledge-based companies, all health and medical needs were produced in the country and the wheel of production of the country did not stop even for a day".
Referring to the enemy's plots to bring the Iranian nation to its knees, the President said, "The enemy's calculations were correct under normal circumstances, and the amount of sanctions and economic pressure imposed on the Islamic Republic should have lead this nation and system to the abyss. However, people's reliance on the Ashura culture and their resistance against the enemy, who carried out a new conspiracy every day, thwarted their plots".
Dr Rouhani pointed out that due to extensive sanctions and unprecedented pressure in 2018, the country's revenue was reduced by about $50 billion, adding, "Those who make unfair criticism of the government should know that the government managed the affairs in the country in days when 900 trillion tomans of the country's revenues had decreased".
