Pres. Rouhani emphasis on full security of borders between Iran, Pakistan

Iran's President described the relations between Iran and Pakistan friendly and sincere, and said, "The two countries have always supported each other in difficult and historical junctures."

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran's President described the relations between Iran and Pakistan friendly and sincere, and said, "The two countries have always supported each other in difficult and historical junctures."

Speaking in a meeting with the new Ambassador of Pakistan to Tehran on Wednesday while receiving his letter of credence, President Hassan Rouhani emphasised the development and deepening of bilateral relations with Pakistan in all fields and said, "I hope the cooperation between the two countries in ensuring the security in common borders continue and develop".

Referring to the restrictions imposed on Iran-Pakistan border exchanges due to the outbreak of coronavirus, Dr Rouhani said, "Several months after the outbreak of the virus and with the reopening of a part of borders by observing health protocols, I hope that the borders will be reopened as before coronavirus and will be more active"

Referring to his meetings and contacts with the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, the President stressed the need for implementation of the two countries' agreements, saying, "The implementation of the agreements can further develop economic and trade relations between Tehran and Islamabad".

At the same meeting, the new Ambassador of Pakistan to Tehran Rahim Hayat Qureshi presented his letter of credence to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and described Iran as a very important and influential country in the region and said, "Relations with Iran are of great importance for Pakistan and all officials emphasise the development of these relations".

He added, "Pakistan will continue to support Iran in international forums and we consider Iran's security as our own security".

The new Pakistani ambassador to Tehran mentioned the development of trade and economic relations with Iran as one of his priorities, adding, "The situation of trade borders between the two countries will soon return to pre-coronavirus conditions".
