AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani in a phone conversation reviewed cooperation to fight COVID-19 and the trend of ceasefire in Afghanistan aiming to create regional consensus.
During the phone conversation on Tuesday night, the two sides discussed collaboration in the field of anti-coronavirus campaign, as well and the need to help solve Afghan refugees’ problems in Iran.
Zarif reaffirmed Iran’s willingness to share its experiences with Afghanistan in fighting COVID-19.
President Ghani, for his part, appreciated Iran, saying Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry will follow up the issues of interest to both countries.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the Unity Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdollah Abdollah wrote on his Facebook page that in a phone call with Zarif, they shared views on regional consensus for ensuring peace in Afghanistan and reiterated the principle of maintaining Afghan Islamic republic establishment as well as urgent implementation of ceasefire.
Abdullah added that Zarif was confident that his country would be ready to hand over diagnostic packages to Afghanistan in order to fight the Coronavirus.
Zarif has held several phone conversations with senior Afghan officials in recent weeks on the regional developments and peace in Afghanistan.
